I am a first grade teacher in a small rural school in Oklahoma. I LOVE first grade and first graders. I learn as much from them as they do from me. There is nothing like hearing children read a sentence for the first time, or watch them write their first story. Seeing the look on their face when they realize “I’m a reader and writer” is unlike any other part of teaching.
At home I am a wife and mother of two amazing young adults. It’s hard to call them that because they are still my kids, but they are young adults as well. Our son is 21 and a soon to be senior at Oklahoma State University. He is on his way to a degree in Rangeland and Ecology Management, and hopefully a career soon after. He is a leader among his peers with a large knowledge base, but even bigger heart. Our daughter is almost 17 and a soon to be senior in high school (yes two seniors in one year). She is a swimming, volleyball playing, horse loving, community volunteering, beautiful, giving, and lovingly, amazing young girl.
Both of my kids are like their father and love to fish, hunt, trap, camp, and just “be” outside. But they are also like their mom when it comes to writing and reading. The most amazing thing about my kids is that they are each their own person, and yet they still love spending time with their family. We are so blessed.
My husband and I were high school sweethearts and have been married 25 years. He is our pillar and my best friend. He was my first true love, my only, and my last.
I love my family and my life. I don’t know what I did to deserve such a vast amount of wealth in my life, but I am so grateful.
